While riding an event this weekend I got a ticket against the ORV Act (Offroad Vehicle Act rather than the Highway Traffic act). The officer, while handing me the ticket, stated that this ticket would not affect my driver license (no demerit points) or driving record (insurance rates go up) as it was a ticket against the ORV act.

Does anyone here experience with ORV Act tickets? I can't seem to find information to back up what the officer stated (I can only confirm the fine amount via a government of Ontario website) and the one traffic ticket place I have spoken with says that I'm for sure looking at demerit points and a new addition to my driving record.

    Thanks!

Not sure, I got caught at the ganny without an ownership. Had my other docs but got a ticket.
Nothing has happened with insurance but it was prob a different scenario.
Did it happen at calabogie? .... I heard a story.

Not having documents does not affect insurance rates or demerit points.

Bump as I'm also curious about ORV situation.

Best way to find out would be to get an abstract once the ticket is processed. If it shows up there than it will affect insurance because that is what is used to see you driving record

Yeah, it was up at the Calabogie ride...awesome ride except for the ticket part.

My recommendation to people here is don't tow bikes! :)

I'm going to be getting a traffic ticket lawyer to help as the ticket is very severe (careless driving) ... I'll post an update once they figure things out.

Ticket for towing a bike - via another bike on a road?
Did “both”bikes have insurance and blue plated ?

    If so, wow.

Towed my buddies dead Yamaha once using a MX jersey for a tow rope...it's not against the law if you don't get caught.
