While riding an event this weekend I got a ticket against the ORV Act (Offroad Vehicle Act rather than the Highway Traffic act). The officer, while handing me the ticket, stated that this ticket would not affect my driver license (no demerit points) or driving record (insurance rates go up) as it was a ticket against the ORV act. Does anyone here experience with ORV Act tickets? I can't seem to find information to back up what the officer stated (I can only confirm the fine amount via a government of Ontario website) and the one traffic ticket place I have spoken with says that I'm for sure looking at demerit points and a new addition to my driving record. Thanks!
