    Hi guys,
I am heading to Bancroft this summer with a couple of guys. At this point I don't have much of a plan. We will set up a home base near Bancroft and are wanting to spend as much time offroad/trails as possible. I have done a bit of riding in the area but it was mostly around a friend's cottage. I am slowly combing through the website to find information, but would love to hear from those who have spent time in the area. What are trails that we shouldn't miss, what can we pass on? Any recommendations for campgrounds or motels? Any GPX files would be great.

    Cheers
    John

I was looking at the tracks that are in there. What would you say the backroads to trail ratio is? I just started looking at everything so I haven't had a chance to take a really good look at the files, but I did notice that it says they are doable on a bigger bike. I know alot of the trails up there are a little wider because they are snowmobile trails but would like to find as much two track and under also.

Lots of great trails all around Bancroft. Do you know which direction out of town that you'll be staying?

Not yet. But I would guess S SW. I see people seem to be using the motel in apsley, looks like a real gem! Not surr if there are any itgher motels that are a decent price in tgr area. We may also pull my camping trailer up and camp.

If you're flexible consider staying a bit south of Bancroft on Lake Weslemkoon. This is where the Weslemkoon Trail Ride starts. Lots of great trails in the area of varying degrees of difficulty.

We are definitely flexible at this point. I will take a look around that area for somewhere to lay our heads

    Thanks

If by any chance you're going to that area in August, just do the Weslemkoon Trail ride. It's a great event.

All the motels we've used before in the Bancroft/Calabogie area are really priced high compared to other places I travel. We went to Apsley based on price. Last year when I did my Bancroft trip in May, I used AirBnB with some success. I stayed in an incredible waterfront cottage near Calabogie for $60/night (the owner later increased it to $125/night) and then in the Old Hastings Road Coach House in L'Amable for $49/night. There were several others to choose from at reasonable rates. In 2014 and 2015 I parked my Travel Trailer in a seasonal campground and just rode my bike from home each trip (did 20,000Km on the DR650 on Bancroft trips in 2015).

I've got numerous tracklogs of Bancroft rides - some just trails, some trails and backroads, some all paved roads - everything in that area is great. Last years trip was for 6 days and I didn't even have a bike with me! Went in my MX-5.

I'll sort out some tracklogs of just the off-road/trails stuff and post it in the "Tracks and Routes" Forum,

I had thought about the weslemkoon ride, but that was the only weekend that didn't work for guys, so we are going the weekend after.

Thanks Bob, you are a good man. I will take a look at air BNB places as well. That's a good thought.

Thanks for everyone's wealth of knowledge!
