Hey Guys I am trying to install basecamp on my work computer. It will let me download it but when I go to install it, it gets about 3/4 of the way through and crashes. Has anyone had the same issues?

Basecamp has never properly installed on my computer, after at least 5 years; I have tried many times. Each time I want to use it is like a new installation. I also find it much harder to use than the software it replaced. Basecamp think it's a piece of junk, I miss Mapsource :(.

Well that's not what I wanted to hear! So what should I be putting on my computer then? I was planning on getting backroads maps, but I need basecamp on my computer for it correct? At least to be able to create/mess with routes on my computer.

Basecamp should install. It has some faults but isn't that bad.

Yes you'll need it to view your back roads map and play around with routes.

    Keep trying and be patient.

Minimize the other app windows perhaps you aren't seeing a popup window you need to perform an action in.

    Good luck

I was wondering the same thing. It seems like there is a window open somewhere that I am not seeing. I never had any issues with it when it was on my old computer...

Worse case scenario try to download it in a different web browser.

I didnt have any trouble, but that was quite sometime ago. Mapsource is still available out there on the web, I use both for different things. I like the ease of Mapsource for picking map tiles and loading them to card or unit, Basecamp can be a bit better at making tracks or planning trips, kinda personal preference.

Basically, I think Mapsource is just that much simpler to use and Basecamp has more functionality , but may be more focused on higher end users than me.

    Good Luck, Todd

After I download basecamp I go to run the installation and get an error that says MSI Error:InstallAlreadyRunning I have pulled up task manager on my computer and it shows that nothing is currently running. I am going to try another computer, but this one is really the one I want it on.

Also I have tried downloading it from both google chrome and internet explorer. Also tried just opening it out of explorer rather then downloading it. No luck

I never thought of trying a different browser, I'll try reloading Base Camp with Firefox...It's the only browser that supports all the different pieces of software for my work, should be ok with the simple Garmin stuff.

Great thanks, I will check them out. I have used it before but not with great success and not in awhile. I am still hoping to be able to load it onto my other computer but for now this will work

It sounds like a windows 10 issue.

If you right click the mouse over the Basecamp icon and click on "troubleshoot compatibility", windows will allow you to run Basecamp in an older version of windows. I've had to do this with a few apps running them in older windows versions and they work great!

I will have to take a look at that. Really I would rather have it on my computer rather than my wife's.

    Thanks
