I’m sure some of you have a couple of bikes or maybe a Big Dog you can travel on. I know you’ve heard of Port Dover and the famous biker rally every Friday 13th. It is a must do! I attended a couple years ago and so did 139,999 other like minded two and three wheel enthusiasts. Unfortunately it’s not always the best street riding conditions to get there and back.

As I think of my street bike parked nice and clean and dry I wish I made the trip today. My KTM is better suited for a ride today though. I thought about seeing if there would be any interest in organizing a DS ride on Friday 13th going forward? Next one is November 2020! I think if we had different groups throughout Ontario meet up with riders in their area for a ride and some snacks, it would be another great excuse to ride?

Maybe a good way to gain interest is to head out today, snap a pic somewhere and share them here. Short notice but that’s why we have lights

Any input? Any interest? Let me know, be nice

    Alan

November the 13th isn't so bad! I can remember sitting on the patio in Creemore on the 17th one year, basking in sunshine.

Not a lot of DS'ing going on in the greater Port Dover area...but keep it in mind! Send out a reminder in October and/or mention it at the "season ender".

I went to one of the first Friday the 13th in 1982 or 83. It was cold (November or March ??). Half the bikes at the bar were dirt bikes and there was only maybe 30 bikes. Rode my 1976 TS250. Wish I took a camera. It didn't start as a Harley event at all.

Ride the dirt bikes and respect the origin of the event.

PS :was originally at a bar at intersection of 6 and 24

    Hey Cole,

thanks for that information. I was only 11 in 1982 so still dreaming of my first bike.
I bought my first bike in 1992, 1985 Honda Nighthawk 450
    Have a good one!
    Cheers

    You guys!

Alan, my first bike was a brand new '82 Nighthawk 450. Rode it to Northern California from Ontario in April/May!!

And that bar you're referring to, Cole, is the Tiltin' Hilton. I don't know what it's real name is. It's built on a hillside on the east side of #24 at #6.

I grew up just outside Port Dover in tobacco country and went to high school in Port Dover. Funny, I spent a lot of time in Dover growing up but couldn't wait to get out of there to the big city of London, and now as I am older Port Dover keeps drawing me back. Great motorcycle roads in the area, and sailing community, and so much more to do there.

Poppycock!! Every friday the 13th until i was 13, My duty was to bring back the two front teeth of a blue horned rhino bull. In my local language, these are called sheets. To demostrate what a courageous young lad i was, i used to bring back 4 sets of bull sheets and that was just in my dreams.

Riding motorbikes on any friday is Such priviledged, toffee nosed , and class based indulgence. Indeed these days all around the Guelp and St. Thomas area, all you get are these geriatrics in early retirement's zooming around like they have no care in the world. They engage in bewilderment t anytime you talk about work when you ride with them. Please start me off anytime you like i am your africa twin.

Btw anyone know how to fine tune carb on a honda xr650l? Brian is missing.
