I have a Montana gps which I am slowly learning. I have a new laptop with Garmin Basecamp on it which I do not understand the program.

I can send messages. I can email. I can FaceTime. I can surf the web.

I do not no computers. I do not know how to save and paste and such. I do not know Icons and what they stand for. I have tried but I have no idea how to transfer a GPX file from the web site to my Montana. Do to my lack of knowledge I can not seem to even find the info that I need to show me how to do this. When I do find some info I can not seem to comprehend or understand the computer lingo and I try but it just does not click.

Is there somewhere that can simply explain this process of transferring files to a total Noob.

    Thanks
    Rick

Hey Rick, when you plug the montana into the computer and open basecamp, do you see the montana listed on the left side of the screen in basecamp? If I open basecamp and plug in my etrex 20, I see it recognized after a minute. After that, I right click on the route I made in basecamp and pick "send to" and pick my etrex internal storage.
If you don't see the Montana recognized in basecamp software, that would be the first issue to resolve.

    cheers,
    alex

Rick, if you have VERY limited computer skills you may find YouTube how-to videos the easiest to follow. I just Googled "Transfer GPX file from Internet to Montana GPS" and got lots of results.

Here's a YT video that seems to show it quite clearly:

Otherwise, tell me what PC / Windows (XP, 7, 8, etc) you are running and I'll make you a step-by-step instruction to download a GPX from ODSC and save it to your computer and transfer it to your Montana.

Have you figured out yet how to use a Dual Sport Route on your GPS? (Setting Activity to DIRECT, etc) If not, read the recent post in Jake's thread.
