UPDATE #4 Day 112
I HAVE VERY GOOD NEWS TO REPORT !!!
Roland has moved out of Sunnybrook and is now settled into a Toronto Rehabilitation Hospital. He has a busy daily schedule for all aspects of progressive rehabilitation.
I saw Roland on Sunday and he was booting around his room in his wheelchair. He has lots of energy and his improved wellness is astounding since the last time I saw him.
He is sleeping 8 or 9 hours every night!!!
He is drinking thickened liquids and eating soft foods.
He can go to the washroom.
And I am told he has already done a single lap around his ward assisted only by a walker. This is really amazing considering he cannot put any weight on his left leg yet and he was totally bedridden for more than 3 months.
Roland is doing very well. He is happy, and he is motivated to recover as quickly as possible so he can move back home with his family.
Roland is now cleared to see visitors
I have discussed this issue with Roland's wife, Lily, and visitors are welcome to drop in and see Roland after 3:00 PM on Saturdays or anytime between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM on Sundays. There is no need to call; just show up. Please keep in mind you may have to wait for others to leave before you can get in the ward to see Roland.
Given this forum has public access, please PM me for address details.
Roland will be very happy to see his friends !!!
ROLAND'S PERSONAL SUPPORT TEAM
His family participated in a brain injury 5 km fundraiser on Sunday; hence the garb
It is awesome to see Roland up and around. I know his Facebook friends will be happy to know. Thanks for the update Al.
Good to see Roland up and smiling.
Best wishes Roland!
Thanks for the update Al.
Really Great News!!
Good news from Roland today.
His rehab is progressing well and he's scheduled to go home on Nov 3rd, where his physio, etc will continue.
His wife, Lily, arrived just as I was leaving and she says Roland is really appreciative of his friends dropping by to visit, and Roland really gets a boost from it.
