I'm wondering if anyone has used the Shinko 244 dual sport tires and what their thoughts are? They have the same tread pattern as the Kenda K270 which I currently run front and rear.

You run a K270 on the front and you're still alive?

Might try looking on ADV rider

I have already looked at adv, seems to be mixed reviews.

I have never had an issue, I very much like them on front and rear

Ive never ran a 270 front, just a few rears, but Ive run umpteen sets of 244,s. The 244 is just more comfortable leaned over on the road, 270 as you know can be a bit disconcerting when you hit those outer knobs, you get used to it but it still freaked me out a bit, 244 is stable as far over as you want to go.

The bad habit of 244,s is the fronts tendency to wash out in anything slick, mud, clay etc., again, you get used to it but it keeps you on your toes, I suspect the 270 is similar given the tread pattern, the rear imo works well in all comditions.

Like any 50/50 tire its all about compromise, great in the dirt, crap on the street and visa versa , so middle of the road gives up a bit on each side. Hell they,re cheap, so throw a set on and see how you like them, out of the 2 the 244 is my go to for all around travel, but I keep a extra set of rims for knobblies as well:)

    Cheers, Todd

The 270 front is indeed like that.
I would call the rear a good 50/50 tire. The front, 80/20. It's the worst front tire I've ever used off road, though I didn't mid it on the street.

270's pattern is typical of tires for dry hardpack terrain. In Ontario you get too much variation to really get away with running it full time. I'd rather run Motoz Tractionator HT before the 270's.....

Last summer (2016) four of us on KLRs rode the Trans Taiga (all the way to Caniapiscau for 10$ a gallon gas)

It was decided that we would all leave on fresh tires. Two of the guys who had ridden the Trans Lab the previous summer on K270s recommended them as the tire for this trip. I obliged.

The fourth in our group went instead with a Shinko DS tire (not sure which though)

Although we all lost lost track of the number of "pucker moments" with the gravel washing out in the corners none had a worse time than Dave on the Shinkos. That said two of us with the new 270s found the bikes weaving some when doing 120+ fully loaded on the 400 series hiways at the start until they wore in a little.

I just finished spooning new 270s on this morning for the Super Sunday ride next week. This will be my third rear and second front.

I ran a 270 rear and Kenda MX front.

All Kenda MX fronts are DOT, and I got good wear and excellent traction over the 270 front
