A tour of the Grand River watershed from Elora to Paris.

There will be numerous river crossings....all over old, iron bridges...too many to count! It involves the Grand, Conestoga, and Ninth Rivers and as much gravel as we can find. Quite a few of these and Its quite suitable for Big Dogs or Small Dogs.

I will be leading this ride and invite you all to join in. I have already done a preride 2x. That"s how much i enjoyed it and the Bridges are truly amazing with the earliest built in 1836. A real marvel of engineering.

We shall meet at Elora Racetrack on May 11th at 9.30 with the intention to leave at 10.am prompt. Parking will be right across the road from the racetrack. Weather looking quite promising as i write so no excuses about dentist appointments and all that malaki. Give your Families a break.. Come out and ride for the day.

Total ride distance is about 246 km and very suitable for all bikes.
    See you at the ride.

This ride is free to members, and $10 for non-members

hey Don, do you go clockwise or counter clockwise? How long does the full route typically take? Is there a lunch stop planned? Sorry for all the questions, just trying to schedule some things.

Does the route still stop at the non existent twisted throttle? Twisted Throttle is now online only, there is something else in that spot in New Dundee where it used to be.

If you wanted to add a bit to the route though... there is a short (one concession only) rail trail that runs to/from this point to Bright, On: https://goo.gl/maps/Q6YNVCYv62ZjiMKg9

Peeps!!!! Where are all the riders wanting more rides? You all know very well that the organisers put a lot of effort into setting up these rides and the continuation of these rides are the lifeline to our club.

I have often spoken about riders that created this club and to this day we enjoy the benefits of the efforts they have and continue to put in. Yours is easy... Turn out and ride. I will hate to abuse my excutive priviledges.... I have been known to show up at family gatherings unannounced to lobby lazy riders. My past is littered with pretend riders that i have had to expose.

Are you craping yourselves out of fear yet? Are you feeling the guilt of your offense to your Bike, your family and your club? Do not dispair... There is hope yet for your salvation. Saddle up and come out riding Sat. Cheers.

Done... but it doesn't make a lot of sense unless you have direct routing on... as garmin doesn't recognize a rail trail as a route. Anyway, that point from 59 Wilson Street to waypoint 067 exists, and is easily rideable on any bike - I promise.

I have a Montana 650t. I believe it does direct routing. Thanks for your help. I hope members with route knowledge of areas we ride will step up and help create additional new routes to the exsisting. We are loosing a lot of ridable places down south.

I could add a water crossing up near Elora too... but not at the moment. I'll try to work that in later this evening.

If you really want 'an adventure' follow Gartshore Rd. in Fergus and keep straight when the road bends 90 degrees and becomes Jones Baseline: https://goo.gl/maps/1vFADN2ALKCJoRQUA

You might need a snorkel and water wings though; it's a little wet. Just ask Bruce.

Ok, I got it done. Water crossing added. There is an alternative route to the water crossing added too. That road is also marked as closed, but there is a water level concrete bridge that can be crossed. I also removed New Dundee from the stops... as why stop at a store that no longer exists?

I'm not sure if I can make it on Saturday or not, but I don't mind sharing my knowledge of the area.

FYI, this is the water crossing as of Easter. Usually it is a piece of cake; on Easter I did not attempt it.

I'll be there on Saturday. I'm riding the route from my place just after it crosses the 401 in Puslinch.
    See you at the start.

If the ride takes place, I expect to meet up at some point in the morning but I can't make the original departure time.

    Hey Don

This is a closed loop ride back upto Elora I assume at 246 kms ? How much will be non pavement ( gravel, rail trail etc.)

My KTM 350 does not like the road much !

    Thanks

Hey... I would say about 60% gravel and hard packed. Unfortunately around here we still have to use paved roads.
