I agree noise is the #1 causal factor in all this. I wish to hell they would just ban all noisy aftermarket muffler sales to start with. And it's not just in the forest... In Brighton, quiet little rural town, we have some kids who tear it up endlessly in a field owned by the family, with bikes so loud you can hear it throughout the town. But, since they're on private land, "there's nothing the police can do". Like really, I know riding bikes is fun, but why does it have to be loud?!

Doesn't matter if it's on private land if the noise is disturbing the peace of others. If you and your neighbors complain enough, the police will show up at their door.

Might be a good idea to complain, their noise is making us all look bad!

I don't know about them, but I would be afraid of the vigilantes (or nut cases). Not only are they making us look bad, but who knows what could happen if the cops don't show up and stop the noise. I heard on the radio the other day that a next door neighbor was killed because of a non stop barking dog (I forget about where and when this happened).

I guess I'll try next time I hear them. I always assumed somebody else already called. I can't imagine anybody closer than I am putting up with it for long. In my experience, the police usually say they are "powerless" if they're on private property and it's not late at night. Just seems like they don't want to do anything.

I called the cops this winter because there was a guy on a quad doing laps around my block in a snow storm on a quad, drifting around the corners, with no helmet... Nobody ever showed up.

One of my friends at work has a problem with a neighbor burning his garbage in a wood stove in his garage. He gets nasty black smoke wafting over his house. This is in Northumberland county where they have the rediculous garbage fees, so the guy just burns all his trash. Anyway, he's called the police, they say he's not breaking any township laws. Since it's inside, not outside, there's nothing they can do. I got him to contact Environment Canada, because there are laws against it, but they never returned his call.

Welcome to my world... Had a neighbor who had a chimney way too low for 1 year (it was 2feet above the eves trough). He did not have money to fix his furnace, so he used 100% wood to heat his home. Smoke in my house when the wind blew from his house down to my house. And ya I think he was burning garbage too, because of the black smoke. Almost nothing you can do legally.

When he moved 2 years ago, it was so nice to have nice neighbors.
