Looks amazing - I'm definitely not worthy... :)

But as I said Devon, I want to find a way to come and help support you if you're going to race.

In case anyone is interested in racing the bajarally in the future I'll post some stuff on equipment, logistics and bike prep.

There's 2 of us racing and 2 friends coming along to drive between stages, set up at the bivouac and help with bike work each night. The goal is 2 finishers medals. We will be covering 1350ish Km's between special stages and transits over 4 days. Well that's the plan anyway.....anything could happen...

The bike is almost ready. I added the highway dirt bikes rallye fairing with baja designs squadron pro's. I got this set up off a generous friend for a great deal and couldn't resist! It's a solid piece of equipment. I've crash tested it a couple times. Destroyed one fairing and bent the roadbook holder. The tower stood up to all the abuse with no issues. The lights are amazingly bright. We need a minimum 160km fuel range so I'm using the giant Acerbis tank.

For navigation I have an ICO odometer, F2R roadbook holder and GPS for cap heading. It's all on switched power from an -eastern beaver- kit. Each fused separately. For back up power I ran a second power cable from the battery for the roadbook holder. The ICO has batteries in case bike power is lost and I have a back up pick up cable in case the primary cable is damaged. I've always had problems with power cables and GPS so I figure this time I'll just power it with batteries. The organizers provide a second computer that they use for tracking purposes. It also acts as a back up ODO/cap repeater and speedo. It will be powered off the bike. In case of power issues to this computer I can use the ICO power cable and the ICO will use the back up batteries. This computer will mount beside the ICO above the roadbook holder.

For bike prep I had a leak down test done with good results so no rebuild is needed. Impressive for a 530 with 250 hrs on it! I replaced wheel bearings, steering stem bearings, throttle cables, lower shock bearing, fork oil, grips, brake & clutch fluid, chain & sprockets, brake pads... I'm sure I'm missing something in this list.

Spares will be wheels with tires mounted, clutch plates, bearings, levers, brake pads, tubes, gasket set, fluids, fuses, chain, air filters for each day. Again, I'm sure I'm missing a few things.

    That's it for now.

Hey Alon! How's the knee? Ya that's the old chain, new one on properly adjusted.

Mounted Dunlop 908 rally raid tires with Michelin HD tubes. I'm pretty sure I could ride this tire flat for a quite a while. It's ultra stuff. Should stand up well to baja conditions.

On the road headed for Phoenix area to get some pre-riding in. Test the tires and figure out proper PSI to run, fuel range and make sure all the electronics are sorted. 3800km to Phoenix. 1400km down.

Best of luck Devon, wish I could join you. The knee sucks, still hurts but it hasn't stopped me from riding yet. I just ice it a lot after every ride...so don't you just love that HDB rally setup with the Baja lights? Daylight at night...

Post pictures when you can. Safe travels

Arizona is spectacular. Got some time in on the dunlop 908's. The whole setup is working very well. Riding in 35 degree heat is a little much though.

If you get stuck for anything while you're in Arizona, let me know. My cousin lives in Phoenix, rides bikes and has an extensive tool collection - happy to connect you with him if you need. Keep that front up and that tire will last forever :)

My view waiting for the truck.

Just crossed back into the states. Everything was going well until the middle of day 3 when my engine cooked itself.....counter shaft seal leaked. Lost oil, lost cam chain tension, cam chain slider destroyed. Timing out. Not sure how much damage there is yet. Sad day. The other rider with us had a 13 hr last day with 4 flats but eventually made it it and got his finishers medal! When I get home I'll post some pics and do a bit of a write up. Amazing event, I highly recommend it!!!

For the record Mexican border police aren't impressed with public urination. Threat was 1 month in jail or 100USD$ fine. 44$ got me out of it.
