When i ride in Michigan or West Virgina i find the locals see us so much different then the locals in Ontario. I could give you lots of examples of this. I guess the short of it is they are happy to see us and we in return spend more then our share of money there. I looked at all the tips we left on the table on one particular trip to West Virgina and realized it was likely more tips then she made over several days. It was good service and she deserved it.

BTW Barry , stop rubbing our nose in your good fortune. You may have a lot of visitors show up.

I will still be a member here and my hats of to Ken and Warren for all their hard work.
Keeping riding areas open will always be an up hill battle I guess.

The Cycle Conservation Club of Michigan was formed in 1968, 22 years befor the OFTR was conceived. They should be ahead of us and do provide a great model to follow and improve upon. Don't forget why the CCC was formed. Michigan threatened to totally ban riding in 1968. They lost all Southern Michigan but established a system, second to none, in the upper regions of the Lower Penninsula and the Upper Penninsula. That was their St. William's, Turkey Point and Northumberland. It's not like Michigan never has a hiccup. Trails are closed and decisions debated there, just as here.
The main difference between Michigan and Ontario is the Tourism and Department of Transportation Agencies have been flexible, intelligent and timely in decisions which aided the enthusiasts and the cash strapped State coffers.
There has been nothing done in Michigan that cannot be done here in Ontario.
