Went to the SCORRA Fun Day today and indeed had fun!

Highlight of the day for me was test riding the new Sherco 300 enduro. What a bike! Sitting on it you'd swear you were on a 125, it feels short and very nimble in the single track. My first round on it I came back a bit disappointed in the motor. It seemed pretty flat on the bottom and you had to rev it to get any power out of it. When I came back and mentioned this Bob Billiard (Sherco importer) asked me what ignition setting I was on...I had no idea. Turns out the setting was the "mud" setting which smooths out and reduces the power to minimize wheel spin. Bob put the ignition setting switch on "dry" and I went out for another lap. Wow...what a difference! This motor really rocks!

In the single track you can flick it around and when you crank the throttle on it hauls azz. Actually the power builds quickly as the RPM's increase, almost like hitting the power band on a 2T...although no where near as abrupt. A very stable bike, with power on through the whoops it was straight as an arrow and I loved the turning characteristics both on flat and bermed/rutted corners. Very predictable and a bike (at least I) felt immediately comfortable pushing hard.

I'd hazard a guess that in some of the single track I was going faster on the Sherco than my own Gas Gas, which I love in the single track.

Thanks Rob and Bob for bringing the bikes to the event and letting people take them out for a spin. Can't wait to try one of the Sherco smokers when they arrive later this year....hopefully. :D

Thanks as well to all the SCORRA people who put on an awesome event. Lots of families out with lots of kids and women riding today, great to see!

Kyle helped me sweep the wooped out RJ'S loop on the Sherco and absolutely loved the bike. He especialy liked the suspension and power delivery.

Yep, that Sherco was quite nimble. The x-ride would be a great bike to have in the garage as well.

Loved that Sherco 300i. I hope they can get them blue plated eventually. The Berg 501 from Mission was pretty good too. Braked like street bike.
