Hey guys, I'm having a bear of a time trying to remove and repack the bearings on my trailer...

I removed the wheel, the hub cover, the cotter pin and the retaining nut as well as the washer ... at this point every online tutorial shows the whole assembly simply sliding off. In my case it simply won't budge.

Am I missing something? There is about 1/64" lateral play in the assembly which makes me think something should be tighter or the bearingss should be serviced....

The rear seal can sometimes hold things up. does the hub move freely? if so just some friendly persuasion, give a whack with a hammer. Tap the bearing with chisel and free it from the spindle if it is stuck. you will need to replace them anyways.

Tap on face of drum with a loaded hammer,or wood and a hammer and the center of outer bearing should pop out, then remove drum.

Decided it wasn't worth the effort and hassle and/or possible screw-up... bought a new axle at CERCA in Milton, ready in 24h and looks sharp.

...next step is to re-se the whole trailer over the winter. :)
