I’m looking to get some upper body protection. I quite like this Thor Impact Rig SE, it includes a kidney pad. I like the price point too. Do you think this is sufficient coverage for upper body for trail riding around Ontario? I’m also getting kneepads and should probably get hip protection in addition to this. Currently all my gear just has built-in protection, but that moves around. Anyone have experience with this or something similar?

Many people have and use this including me and it's great for it's price point.

I've never like hip protection. I've never banged a hip but I usually go over the bars.
I like tekvests. Broke my ribs wearing a roost type guard. When I landed, my elbow jammed into my ribs and broke them.
I would probably try something else if I could find something that offers the rib protection a tekvest does.

I've also been thinking about rib protection and I'm leaning toward the Leatt 5.5 upper armour. I've heard good things about the Tekvest but I don't like the idea of having to wear separate elbow guards.

I have both the impact rig se and the leatt adventure and both are great pieces . I find the rig is slightly better built but the leatt works better with the neck brace.
