I’m wanting to explore roads, routes, trails of Upper New York State this Fall. Is there a BRMB type SD version or gps file version available somewhere? Garmin maps seem to be multiple state or regional- is there something up to date and less all inclusive, cheaper and specifically for the state or its northern areas that is routable that I can use in my Montana?

    Thanks for advice and suggestions.

I used a Garmin US Topo for the last time I went.

You can probably get a similar amount of detail using an Open Street Map download.

Here is what it looks like in basecamp (random area in NY State chosen):

Thanks Visser. I appreciate your time and effort to post the screen shots and your quick response. I guess I will have to do some computer work with base camp and OSM to put something together. There is no quick in the box (card) cheap solution. I’m surprised that this is not readily out there. You’d think State and local American tourist boards would be putting these together and handing them out! I’m all the more appreciative of BRMP - Eastern Ontario card- (Canadian eh!?)-,albeit it comes with a very outrageous $150 price tag! I guess there are lots of paper maps of various tours and adventures but the digitizations are not commercially available and come from forums and riders who have done the seat time. For example, I like the paper map of tour trails and eastern adventures(TheTrail.ca) - be great to have it digitally available. Maybe that takes all the fun out if though?! A big shout out to all the guys who freely post their rides and maps and tour tips in all of our clubs and forums.

There might be a plug and play solution similar to BRMP... I haven't looked into it much because I am cheap and look for the free solutions first if I am not going to use the product very often.

I imagine if you stop in at a Cabelas or Bass Pro in NY there would be some form of garmin maps on an SD card available, I'm just not aware of what exists for that.

Edit... a quick google indicates that there is something called backwoods GPS trails for NY... I haven't tried it so can't comment on the product: https://backwoodsgpstrails.com/wp3/nh-atv-trail-map-v1-03-autorouting-update-available/

Edit #2: and another one, has motorcycling as a category: http://www.gpstrailmasters.com/content/goomap/atv-map_E.html
