The ride started out with a little ride around a MX track set up at the start area and then we rode out the single track to the road. Cool and wet conditions made things a little slippery and there were plenty of signs that the enduro people that started in front of us had a few unplanned excursions. Just before Collingwood there was a slimy clay downhill infested with ruts. To make things more interesting there were two pickup trucks trying to climb up the hill and had taken up the good line. As you can imagine this was the end result... From this point we headed over to the Collingwood Blue Mountain Ski Resort and took a break at the top of the resort to check out the view of Georgian Bay... There were some nice road allowances but you had to pay attention now that most of the leaves are down covering up the lane... There was a father & son team enjoying the day... Along with some other folks... The road allowances going up and down the escarpment were fun with some switchbacks... Plus there were some water holes to get your attention... The last road allowance of the day was missing a bridge that forced us down in the creekbed. The creek was dry but the rocks and roots made the climb out interesting... Thanks to Kevin & the rest of the Rally Connex team for a nice fall ride.
Great pics. And thanks for showing everybody how good my bike looks while lying on it's side! I'd love a copy of that pic if you could send me one. I wanted to snap my own pic of it, but my bark buster was quickly filling up with leaking gas so I figured I'd better pick it up asap! A smoke break for me after that hill was well deserved I think. Good times indeed. It was my first Rally Connex event in my first riding season, and I'll be back for more next year for sure. My filthy bike today looks great parked beside that shiny Harley ...
