    Hi there.

I am teaching my kids how to use a clutch, and would like to practice in a pit/open area so that I can keep an eye on the boys. I find this hard to do on trails.

I am in the Lindsay area and we have OFTR memberships, and want to ride in a legal area.

    Thanks for any ideas.

Wow, has this site kind of gone to sleep? I don't think there has been 50 posts in the last 2 weeks.

Anyway, I don't know of a place in Lindsay, but about 30min north of there is the Burnt River Off-Road facility. For a few $ you can spend a day there with your kids. There have open areas to ride as well as a kid friendly track. Plus woods riding (advanced single track), Trail riding, and a pretty nice MX track (not for 1st timers).

Your kids might not be ready for the big MX track, but they can see some older more experienced riders go around it. All a part of the fun. Bring a potable BBQ and have a great family day.

There is a fairly open area in Ganaraska Forest near one of the parking areas where I taught my wife how to ride. You will need to walk about 5 to 10 minutes from the parking lot if they don't know how to ride yet.

The only problem with the Ganny is that the bikes need to be licensed an insured. It s also not free.

The bikes will be registered and insured, so that isn't an issue. I have never been to the Ganny, so I should maybe go there on my own to take a look at the area.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

That pit is posted. Lots of people ride there and lots of people get ticketed for riding there.

Like I said, IMHO the best place is the Burnt River facility. It's cheap, your kids will meet lots of like minded friends, and it's 100% legal.

Unless we support places like Burnt River, we are destined to be without them. Our loss, and for what reason I cannot fathom.
