I have not been in the forest in a few years. I now belong to a JEEP club that is overseen by the OF4WD , much like the OFTR. While looking threw the trail maps I was surprised to see the Ganny listed as a place to take a 4x4. I called the forest office and was told that " a jeep with a day pass has the same rights in the forest as any other motorized vehicle " . I have never seen a jeep in there before, has anyone ? Randy
I've only ever seen one Jeep on the forest roads. An older 2dr model, not that much larger than a typical side by side. I would say that buying a forest pass for a Jeep would be a waste of money. It would be slower than a SxS. Of course after riding a dirt bike in single track, any 4 wheeled vehicle seems lame. If you had a pass for motorized use (motorcycle) you could wander down the forest roads in a Jeep if desired. There must be better places that would actually challenge the capabilities of a Jeep. Ganaraska forest roads can be done with any "mall terrain" vehicle.
I have seen tons, had a girl that worked for me in the 90's and her and her boyfriend would go every weekend.
It is not a Jeep destination, have to stay on the double track roads and it is lame at best. You can get more adventure on non maintained roads for free. Speeds are low and you have horses to contend with.
I contacted the forest center and it was confirmed that a Jeep is allowed . To me it just seemed like a bad idea.
