New to GPS on my dirt bike, what do you recommend as an affordable unit that is rugged, inexpensive, pluggable into 12 volts and accepts import of GPX files (track files)? Plus can be mounted on the handlebar cross bar? Thanks!
Garmins are the choice for most riders. Club members get a 10% discount at GPS Central. Get the best unit your budget will allow; something you can load topographic maps into as a minimum.

Got a Garmin 78s....should do the trick. Now for some topo files for Ontario, any idea where to get at reasonable price?
I just bought the Backroad GPS Maps for Ontario to go with the Garmin 64s - the maps have a lot of trails on them, it was expensive at $150 but worth it I think
Has anyone used a Garmin Oregon 600...its a little older but was wondering if anyone had any experience with one for trail riding? Thanks
I have the oregon 600, about 4 years with it. Have Back roads map book loaded and find it works well for trail riding as the mapset shows ofsc, atv, pedestrian, road allowances etc. However you are unable to route down these trails . To create a route that is followable you must first create a track in basecamp and then convert it to a route before loading. Some have reported that the mini usb port is vulnerable to vibration and water intrusion but i have not had this problem at all. I still use the oregon for sailing and cycling but it has been superceded with a Zumo 395 on the road bike. Hope this helps. Phik
