POSTPONED UNTIL SATURDAY APRIL 27th The Route and details are posted here: Its most likely going to be wet so bring/wear your rain gear.
Picked up my bike last night. Brand new d606 tires. Looks like I'm going to need them. Might leave the bike at home and bring the canoe.
We have been out in the rain assessing the situation. its been raining here for more then 12 hours straight here and no sign of stopping all weekend. It would appear the water is not dissipating well as there is still ground frost under the surface. The route is under water in many places. Its a mess out out there. I think Dirk is right it would be a war zone with many casualties. At this point we have made a decision to Postpone the ride until Saturday 27th ( next weekend ) . The long range forecast is calling for sun and warmer weather from Thursday onward. In doing so we maybe able to actually enjoy riding rather then fighting the rain, water and mud the entire day and doing unrecoverable damage to our machines and the environment. The plan will be the same and the Lunch location will still be catering the lunch. Please spread the word.
Hey, just wondering how much off-road there will be in the ADV track. We are comfortable with most double track, rail trails, and that type of thing - when it’s dry, but haven’t done much in the wet. And we haven’t picked up the skid plate yet for the wife’s Versys 300 yet. Running 59/50 fairly aggressive tires (Heidenau K60 Scout front and Mitas E-07 rears on both bikes. How much water and deep much should we expect on the ADV route? Just don’t want to get over our heads for our first real group ride. It sucks because we’ve had this date circled on our calendar since we heard about it at the Winter bike show... EDIT: Just saw the notice for next weekend. Cool! See you all next weekend!
The ADV route is designed for big bikes with street oriented tires. There is some non maintained roads but all have bypass options. You should be fine with the tires you have and without a skid plate. Note the ride got postponed until April 27th due to epic three days of rain!
You probably saved some lives Kevin Hey nothing gets a bike done like a deadline. I just finished putting my Husaberg back together Yay! See you next weekend.
Good call. I was just riding around this afternoon with my son. The mud is so wet it doesn’t even stick to the bike!
I'm doing the dual sport track. I enjoy the more aggressive off road riding. It will be muddy this year, so knobby tires are recommended.
Just wondering how much better the trails will be compared to last weekend. Too much mud and colder weather (with flurries?) is putting me on the fence. Any updates? Nick
yeah, its been about 10 years +, so it's time I attend a quasi-club ride! I got all my snowboard gear together and will be there about 9:15, see ya, JM
