Hi Guys, I'm looking for info on the RAP ride. I'm looking at leading a group of buddies on something like this. Any info you can share would be great. Thanks Greg Bastedo
Might be bast to track down some older tracks from Warren and friends. they did the loop around the park many moons ago and navigated via GPS.
done it a hundred times on snowmobile, never on bike, except via highways. Would be a cool to do (after blackflies die down) , watching to see what the route is
@bastedo 81 ...are you still looking to do the RAP? I'm thinking of tackling this in July, pending a group with similar interests.
Hi i just saw your questions now. I lost interest as my buddies who said they were "pumped to do a ride like this" have since not been so pumped. LOL. Also I fished for some information, and not much came of it. I would for sure be interested in joining a group if you were putting something together. Please let me know. Greg.
ROUND Algonquin Park Update: we're doing a reconnaissance run along the west boundary of the park NEXT weekend (Sunday), hoping to have a route for a full RAP after that.
as usual, one question always leads to a bunch more! When you say "round", that means around the perimeter, not going into the park? Or the park area in general (in and out as the route dictates). When I zoom in on Google maps, I see lots of roads going in, but most look like eventual dead-ends, except for a few. Then, are these rides single day, or multi-day (camping?) Lastly, mostly dirt/gravel or paved?
Motorized vehicles are not allowed in the park except on the main road and camping road allowances....
Hello I am new here. looking at my Backroads maps there plenty of roads/motorized trails on the east of Kearny and crown land to camp. I am interested also. Paul
The ATV club http://algonquinwestatv.com/ has many trails thru there. They are a lot dryer than when we rode thru with B & A a few years ago.
Thanks for posting the link to the AWATV site. I looked at the map they have for download, do you know if those trails are on private or crown land? I may do my own version of a RAP ride, have to decide whether to go east of Hwy 11 or follow the TCAT (which I believe stays west of 11). Mike
This sounds great, rode through the park on my cruiser in the fall and wanted to get back this summer on my DS Are we camping/motel, or is it a one day trip? Thanks
I believe it's mostly crown land , especially close to the park. I ran into a few gates exploring the area years ago as you go west. Widgeon Lake area had a gate.
Rode from Huntsville to Mattawa last week. The trail from behind Trout Creek to Powasson through Genesee Lake is now gated on each end. Have to take Forestry Rd to Hwy 11 and hit Powasson. Also the trail at Williamsport road ( Huntsville ) was blown over by tree's, marked no tresspassing "Dog sled trail". But you can still connect the road by continuing to the end. There was logging operation in process
Did anyone end up doing this? I’m interested in a 2020 RAP ride. I rode a bit of the east side and around Kearney last summer on a 450.
i am planning to go around June if i can get a room / hotel in the area then. I have been there twice last year and was alone. Both time I eventually turned around because I did not wanted to take risk to get stuck in some wet ATV track. ATV track north of Huntsville are very nice eventually after 1-2 hours it becomes a little more technical. I really like the area, it is the beginning of the Canadian Shield.
