Hey all, I decided over the winter to rebuilt the carb on my bike as when after riding slow speed on the trails and then hitting say a gravel road and speeding up, it would studder. A number of parts such as the jet, needle set and pilot set I did not replace though as they looked in good shape and some of the prices were pretty ridiculous or were on back order so the rebuid consisted of more or less new gaskets and O-rings. I had the carb soaked and blown out with compressed air. In any event, it was put back together by my brother while I was away so I can't vouch for the thoroughness of the job (and wobbley pops may have been present). It starts up great but as soon as you give it any throttle, it bogs down and dies. You can though adjust the throttle set screw on it and it will rev up fine. Given the little adjustability while the carb is on the bike I suspect I have to remove it and recheck things but any thoughts or areas you guys think should look out for would be appreciated. I know, I need a newer bike but I can't see that in the cards until maybe next year. Thanks again, Cam
Check that the needle is still attached to the slide I have seen the clip fall off and the needle falls down into the jet blocking fuel flow above idle
You might have the jet screw in too far making it lean. An easy adjustment that can be made without taking the carb apart. Try running it with the choke on a bit/ a lot to see if this changes anything. Jeff
