My name is Don Jasper. I have today asked the Board and Executive to step down and call a general meeting because i do not think they are representing Ontario and should not have that designation. I am asking that all members attend the upcoming meetings to determine if the current functioning of the club meets the standards you expected. Part of the membership goes to the ODSC, and the club is accountable to its members for the membership fees it collects. I think the ODSC should be more than a collection point for the OFTR, and they should be accountable. Members should be provided with dependable riding routes at the very least. I suspect that the ODSC is restricted from growing because the current board is otherwise preoccupied. If we get the requested meeting, please attend and let us know how you wish this club to be organised moving on.
Now I am in a secure chat. When did our last president resign?. Who is our president? Who voted him in?. I am solidly behind Cam as a candidate, but it seems most of you guys are kingmakers. Abusing the trust of our members against the laws of our province. Who informed the member that we have a new president? That's because some of you think you own the club and can impose on the members. As a member. I disagree with your options. I have no objection to Cam as our president . I have painfully persuaded him to claim that position many times. What I am feeling is that we have a quango of non-participating board members deliberately flouting the laws in our province. This will not happen as long as I am a member. I will again ask urgently for a meeting, so for the record..I will make my position very clear. We have no president legally. Anyone who is currently taking responsibility for our functioning is doing so illegally. Amongst others, commitment implied... We cannot collect money from members and do ****. How many meetings did our representative attend to promote the club in the last year? How did that change our vision for next year? We effectively are conning members because we do nothing for their benefit.
24 hours, guys. On the board or not. Make your position clear or resign from the board. Serve our members or move on with all respect due.
Hi Don I am the current President. I told you this on the phone and in messages here. Clearly you've forgotten. The current board have lives and have stayed on because of their passion for the club. There is no conspiracy, hidden agenda, or any ulterior motives to my or anyone else's action or lack of action. I'm busy and struggling to find and devote the time to the club. As I mentioned during our conversation. You are free to stepup and helpout, as you've previously indicated you are willing to do. I will schedule a Virtual AGM on Zoom for all current members to attend. I'll have a date for the AGM posted by Noon Monday. Thanks
Don; You need to chill a bit. I sense your day job intruding on the way-under-resourced ODSC. They (you and I were) volunteers. Let's let Cam and crew get organized. Respectfully, Bruce
It is time to renew OFTR memberships for 2026 and I have not seen any activity on this site since May last year. I can only very rarely attend rides but have been allocating my club as ODSC for a long time. As there has been no activity, I am looking to send the club portion elsewhere. Is the ODSC planning any rides this year? I have not seen anything posted.
@JamesM63 A very good question. The exec has been working on this and changes are taking place. The ODSC has broken ties with the OFTR. It is no longer possible to join via the OFTR site. The primary reason for the split has to do with insurance coverage for club events. Clubs have insurance coverage under the OFTR umbrella. The OFTR functions primarily in support of off road activities. Their insurance coverage allows for limited road usage when linking OFTR trails. The end result is that they will not cover dual sport rides unless OFTR trails are involved. Many dual sport rides will not use those trails. The ODSC has gone back to having their own insurance coverage, thus the split with the OFTR. An ODSC digital membership portal will be created soon (any 2026 memberships that were processed by the OFTR will be honoured). Rides are planned for 2026 now that the insurance issue has been resolved.
