When I was in Bancroft I saw this new(ish) Backroads Map - Bancroft District Crown Land. It's printed on tear-resistant waterproof material so it's a good backup to throw in the backpack. It covers most of the stuff we do on Bancroft Area Rides and it's $10.95 - a bit more than my usual CAA maps (i.e. free) - but I couldn't resist :)

I have a the Ontario back road map book and run it on my gamin nuvi 250 and the 62ct handheld. I went up north with my dad and followed the trails. Very detailed, it shows old logging roads but many times when far away from civilization the roads are grown in and I had a very long day when I had to backtrack my truck 35 km because non of the trails leading to asphalt existed, and the only way forward ended at an atv bridge. Having said that I love how it gives details to everything like atv and snowmobile trails. At the price it would be nice to get a free update at least once in a few years, I'd be more inclined to spend my money.

I hate old software, on a different unit I was looking for a Hospital in St.Catharines and the one I went to was closed and the new a few miles awah wasn't on my unit. Quite frustrating.
