Went for a ride today. The trails are in great shape. Surprisingly even better than before we had 3 days of rain. I checked pretty much the whole route and it is ready to go. The snow is almost non-existent, the deep water crossing from 09 is like a puddle and there are no trees blocking the way. I played with the route a bit to include some stuff from the 2010 ride that would be nice to have in there. Plus it got rid of some road sections and increased the dirt%. EDIT: New route below
I chaired this ride with John B and Richard L a few years ago that started from Skytop. If whoever is running it this year pm's me with your email I'll give you all our pre-ride routes. Mike
so if we want to do this ride, we just show up at the location marked start ? It would be a lot easier if a new thread was started with all the details on it . Could even be a locked thread. Still deciding on the BB trail ride or the Beth. It's a shame we cant do both. Likely be a last min choice for the Crew. Randy
Non-members are welcome due to the fact that this ride is to promote our sport and the ODSC. Come one and or come ALL. =D> Regards, Crazyfrog. (Organizer of the Beth 2011)
Thanks for the offer, but I am going with the same route I did in 2009 including a MAP to our first stage, which we got allot of good feed back of the said route and start location, and being a week away from the actual ride I don't want to change anything at this point. If you wish to change it a bit yourself to suite your own needs so be it. =D> And thank you Rob (Z1Krob) for pre-riding the route and reporting as such, I am glad to hear the the route is clear and good to go, but I am disapointed that our water hole crossing is now a puddle wich I assumed it would be. again thanks Rob. =D> Again please note that the route GPS File and Map to our first stage can be found on Page two of this thread. I hope to see you all next week April 30th between 8 to 9:30AM at the Port Perry Snowmobile club house located on Russel Rd just south of Shirley Rd, you miss it. =D> Crazyfrog
There is a problem with the route you posted on page 2. There isn't enough waypoints for the GPS to figure it out properly when you upload it. It may look fine in mapsource but it will not upload correctly to all GPS units. More info here if you care to read it: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=17723
For the people who downloaded the route I posted previously could you please download it again. I have added the needed waypoints and should work fine when uploaded now. I will attach it here again anyway. I'm going to ride it as it is routed today to make sure there are no problems with it. I'll report back. EDIT: Newest and my last route posted below.
Ok. Ride is proofed. Only one small change as a road on the map was actually somebody's driveway when I got there. Credit goes to crazyfrog for the route as it is 95% what he posted. All I did was tweak it, took out a couple paved sections that passed by dirt sections, and added the dirt sections in. The route now works beautifully. So Almost 600km worth of pre-riding and I'm done. Trail conditions are awesome so lets hope for some great weather. The proofed route is attached. And I'll be editing out all previous routes posted.
Thanx for leading us crazyfrog =D> . Rather than downloading the routes can i just use the 2009 routes? are there any changes? I still have them saved don't want to duplicate them if I don't have to my computer is slow enough lol cant wait just 7 sleeps.
Regrettably I'm teaching that weekend, so I hope you'll refrain from posting pictures and video in this thread. [-X
Thanks Rob, you have helped me allot, It's not a one man show, and I couldn't of pulled it off without you. All I need to do now is make a few phone call and we are good to go! I will see you and everyone else next Saturday at PPSC club house. I can't wait, this ride is AWESOME!!!!!! =D> Conrad C
Thanks. Just glad to help. Looks like we are getting some rain this week. The Weather Network is saying clear for Saturday so far. I'll be crossing my fingers that it holds. [-o< This weekend had some awesome weather. Hopefully next weekend will be the same. Hope everyone had a good Easter!
"The Bethany" heard you, and asked for another week of rain for build-up to this year's ride. We'll see if that puddle is still a puddle come Saturday
My computer doesn't seem to recognize my Garmin 60CX in Mapsource...any chance of a laptop being at the ride start for route download? Thanks!
Another question. I don't even have a gps. Can I just follow other riders who know where they're going?
If you don't have a GPS you can ride with a group that does. A SPECIAL NOTE TO EVERYONE!!! We never leave a man BEHIND!!!!! Everyone EACH GROUP is responssible for the one following them and so on. That way we wont loose anybody and or if someone drops his bike or get stuck, we wait or help them as such. See you on Saturday. Conrad C (Crazyfrog)
Bah! Only little girly men get stuck on the Bethany, nothing to worry about. Wait... did you say we're doing the 2009 route again? 8-[ Oh, crap  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsGJX0SrbUI
Are you in??? Don't worry, your pit is non-existent and I can do up some detours around the other wet spots if you like.
