I believe we all had a good day today, thanks to Mike S. for plotting the route from Toronto to Haugen's (he couldn't attend, had to work), to Andy S. for exploring the Bethany area trails early on and reporting back (he couldn't attend either), to Charles, Rob & Eric for pre-riding the primary route, Kevin for pre-riding the Big Bike route with us and especially Derek who went above and beyond the call of duty to pre-ride, test and eventually plot part of the Big Bike final section. Thanks Guys! =D> =D> These rides just don't happen, there is a lot of work and effort put into them to pull them off. Next time you see anyone of these folks, make sure you thank them for their efforts. Although I didn't get to ride the primary route (bike problems), I had a great day and appreciated everyone who came up and thanked me personally but, it was a team effort from the above folks. John
Couldn't agree more with the above post. My thanks go out to all as well. Great ride, great route and trails. Thanks to Nick and his Brother on the 2 yellow DRZ's for making sure our group stuck together(for the most part).
Huge thank you to everyone who helped out in making this all go down today! Glad the weather cooperated with us for the most part! After jumping through mud puddles all day (more like ponds) my new white boots are now broken in nicely! Great meeting everyone today, hopefully see some of you at the Mini Pine next weekend :eat Thanks again to all the organizers.
They were nice looking boots at 930 this morning! Great ride today. Thanks to everyone who came out and supported it.
Awesome ride today. Thanks again to the organizers. See you guys out at the mini pine next weekend. Mark.
I'd like to thank the guy's that work on setting this ride up and Nick for being our tour guid. Had a blast and will be paying for it tomorrow with sore muscles.
Great to see so many people out for the Bethany especially considering the weather! Big thanks to OntarioGS for organizing the whole kit and kaboodle. The addition of the Big Bike route was a hit, with about 13 riders, I think. Here's a few pics from that route and a quick video moment: http://youtu.be/FZHJZyddgJc
Thanks everyone! Great day, great crowd! Great to see familiar faces and meet new ones. Started out riding with Imnothng and sadlmakr and we picked up ktm raptor and megomaniac along the way. Great group to ride with. Should have had some great video of the orange bikes but, low and behold, messed up the go-pro. I officially suck at running this camera! #-o Did get some though: A few bits and pieces: http://youtu.be/vnvlKObZzbw As advised, gonna have to tape on the fender bag: http://youtu.be/RIoyE8g_QsA Another great Bethany.
HUGE THANK-YOU to all involved in planning todays ride and the amazing guys on the big bike ride today. And for rescuing me after going down in the dumb dumb move of the day (speed wobble skid slide on the tarmac) UGH! Lesson learned, I had a fantastic day and it was a joy to meet so many great people. Hope to have the honour of riding with you folks again. Cheers!
Yup, I second, third and fourth that. You can really tell you guys put time into the track. Trails were in suprisingly great cond! Nice to meet some new faces! Cheers!
Thanks to John and the crew for putting this together. Derek and Kevin for leading the big bike groups. I enjoyed the ride and meeting everyone. Thank God for gortex! More big bike friendly rides please. Cam
A HUGE thanks to everyone who helped to put this ride together, another GREAT Bethany ride! Here is a video that shows the Bethany 2014 Ride through my eyes:
Thanks to all who organized the ride. my first time ride with odsc, I was in big bike group& met lots of nice people. I second this: more big bike friendly ride please ,Cheers
Great video as usual! Always a great record of the event. We need a little more from the big dog ride! Wish I could have done both. Looked like a great route. OntarioGS truly is a master of route plotting! Just a quick note on the GPS transfer. Sadlmakr and I quickly and easily transferred most of the routes using the wireless transfer feature. For some reason routes 3 and 5 would not transfer and would not display on my Montana. I know others had no issue so the problem was local to me. Life lesson 1342, check/test the routes before you leave the computer.
I would like to send out a big thank you to all those who attended the ride and financially supported the club, we raised $485.00 which we will donate to the Ganaraska Forest to assist with the cost of Police Forest Patrols. Various clubs contribute to the Ganaraska to help keep this 11,000 acre area open for responsible motorized riding. Thanks again.
Thank you ODSC for hosting this ride. I have enjoyed it for the last couple years and this year was surprisingly drier than I thought it was going to be. Great conditions overall. Again, thank you to all the organizers, and I cant forget Mike (MichaelSchorpp) for supplying his awesome route from Toronto to Port. Thanks Mike. Great route.
LMFAO - I just had this posted as a comment to my Bethany 2014 video on youtube: Here is the post he's referring to : viewtopic.php?f=3&t=21265 Sorry about your luck mate!! I'm not sure who it was that I helped out at the 8 minute mark, but you're probably right - it was all his fault LOL At any rate glad your story had a happy ending; the risks of riding alone!
I was unable to make the Bethany ride this year, but downloaded the big dog track and rode it last weekend (with a little dog, ha!). Started on Saturday, stayed overnight in Cobourg and finished on Sunday. Very nice ride! Thanks to those who created and posted this route.
