The Date has been set for Saturday April 25, 2015

Here we go ...let's get this started
Tomorrow night, the wind chill here is to be -44 ...time to start thinking about riding
The Bethany ...traditionally the first ride of the year, let's try to keep it so!
Once again we are hoping to run two routes. One being the regular Bethany fare and the other a more big bike friendly route as we did last year
We will use this thread to keep everything updated

We are still working on a date.... The OFTR calander lists the ride for Saturday April 25th. This is not carved in stone.
The Beagle Bash Enduro and Trail Ride is the next day. How do people feel about this? What about a week earlier on the 18th? The Final date is entirely dependant on the snow/ice melt as we saw last year.
As usual, we will be looking for volunteers to get this done. Scouts, pre riders, ride leaders and sweeps. PM me if this interests you or you are available to help.

    O.D.S.C. Bethany Ride
    Ride Details

    Saturday April 25th

    Where:
    Haugen's Famous Chicken & Ribs Barbeque Restaurant.http://goo.gl/maps/w1N0a
The people at Haugen's have graciously allowed us to use their parking lot this year as our staging area. =D> ***Please park on the north side of the building in the gravel area of the parking lot.***

    Itinerary:
8:00am - 9:30am Breakfast in Port Perry (optional), we have notified the Hyland restaurant (South side of hwy. 7 as you come down the hill into town) that they may get some riders in... get your group together and fill your "tank" before the ride.

    9:30am - 10:00am Registration

    10:00-10:15 Riders meeting

    10:20am - Staggered start

Lunch - Bewdley Rhino Restaurant https://www.google.ca/maps/place/Rh...ata=!3m1!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0xcdf4a5e70059c7fb
End - Haugen's - Stop in after the ride for a bite to show our appreciation.

Please try to support the local economy!

    Fee:
Cost is $10.00 for ODSC Current Members (We will have a current list) $15.00 Non-Members. Money raised will go to support ORM trails in Ontario

    Membership Requirement:
You do not have to be a member to enjoy this event. ALL ARE WELCOME. Come out and see what the ODSC is all about.

We will have a big bike route designed for large and small bikes that don't have knobbie tires or for less experienced riders who may not want to get into the tough stuff.

*** This year, the easy stuff for the small bike route will be before lunch. This will give riders an opportunity to evaluate there skills and bike. If you find the morning small bike route challenging or are having doubts at this point.... PLEASE join the big bike route after lunch. The post lunch route for the small bikes gets significantly HARDER!!!***
Please be respectful of others. Riding over your head can not only ruin your day but it can take away from others' enjoyment of the day, as they may be the ones pulling you through.

There will also be a route posted from Toronto to the start point. I'm sure riders will meet to ride this as a group.

Routes and distances will be posted later this week on this forum. At present we still have a few areas to pre ride / verify the route. Please check this post this week for updates.

We will not have a sweep rider at the end so, please ride in a group to ensure everyone stays safe.

Thanks to all the Volunteers who have been pre riding, planning routes, getting cold, dirty, and enjoying the early season riding.

A big thank you to John Harvey (OntarioGS). He stepped down as ride chair this year but probably has put in as much effort and time as when he chaired the ride in previous years

I'll post any additional info here as updates.

    Thanks Bruce.
Remember that knobbies will be required for the pre riders of the route. Big bike route guys should be fine on d/s tires pre riding. We will probably make a couple of by passes on the big bike route for those who don't feel comfortable on road allowances.

I always mean to come out to one of these year-opening rides and always miss it for one reason or another. Here's hoping I make this one on my XR650L, whenever the date happens to be.

    Ditto.

However, I broke the exhaust off the Husky last fall doing some volunteer work at the Cord. In fact, I beat the hell out of the poor thing in the very small amount of riding I did there. I was astonished how insane the terrain is up there. I have a whole new respect for people who actually race it!

Anyone know of a reasonably priced shop I could take the Husky (pref near Brampton) where I could get some welding done? I need to get the brackets welded back on.

I'm also looking for a kickstand and related parts (spring and pin) for the Husky in case anyone has one sitting around they want to part with.

I have 13 riders signed up on ADV+. Can we all just show up, or do we have to pre-register somehow?

All are welcome, there won't be any pre registration. There will be a sign up sheet at the start location. Are the riders big bike route riders or the gnarly stuff?
