I just bought a BlackBerry but am now second guessing my decision. The text does not zoom in enough for me to read a lot of things and i have to keep trying to zoom in every time i change a page. I like the look and feel of my blackBerry but i have a few days to change it. I am going to go in to the store and see if i am doing something wrong . So what say you guys? iphone or BlackBerry. < sure wish we could still do polls>
Deal I gave them my wife and 5 thousand for it ! SOoo half that :mrgreen: The phone is on sale now for $70.00. They gave me a bunch of upgrades over my cell plan including 500 data for $6.00 a month more . 15 days to take back and exchange for something else if i don't like it.
It depends what you want to do with it. My wife has an I-Phone and loves it. I find it to hard to type with and prefer a BB. If you use it to email alot, get the BB. The IP is way better for internet use IMO.
Curve 8900. My wife's is just a standard phone. They are on for $0.00 at 2001 if you sign a 3 year contract right now.
The big 3 are trying to get as many people onto 3yr contracts as possible right now, while they can still get high prices. There are 2-3 new players starting up for cell phone service, so pricing will be going down in the next year or so. I have an iphone and like it a lot(OK, to be honest I love this thing! :lol: ). Didn't get a chance to try the BB storm, which is supposed to be similar. The only thing to be prepared for is that(pound for pound) an iPhone will be more expensive to use than just about any other phone out there. It's just in the way they work and handle data. Also once you get addicted to the apps, you'll be spending money on those a buck or two at a time. I had a BB for years and never spent more than about $55-60.00/mth(taxes, etc. incl.). My Iphone(3GS) costs about $80.00/mth for similar service.
I was at the store today and i have to wait until March to do a upgrade to the iphone. Well , unless i want to pay about $800.00 for it. I think i am going to do the i phone but i will see what changes in the next month. Brian , i had no idea those Adult sites cost so much to visit [-X
If trying to buy the iPhone from Rogers, be aware that they wil not likely honor the advertised price - unless you force them :evil:
We get TOTALLY screwed for cell phone's and their service. Canadians pay some of the highest rates around the Globe. Glad to see there are a couple more new players coming online. Windmobile and Davewireless for now.
My buddy uses a US Verizon phone and he swears that his bill is 40% cheaper than when he was with Bell even after all the roaming charges.
As I said on the email thread you had going...I see lot's of guys that I work with switching back to bberry's after straying to the iphone. The iphone has coolness factor, but for any serious amount of business application, it doesn't even come close to the capability of a bberry. If you are using if for multimedia, then the iphone is suitable...until the keypad starts to fail, or you get tired of it constantly dropping data from it's memory. I don't really think I'd want to drop an Iphone either, where as, most bberrys are fairly tough. What I predict, is that many of then infidels that had been bberry users, that went to iphone, will return. bberry is more for business use, and after 1+ years of in service for the iphone, many are realising that. You will get used to the berry, don't go taking a hit on it to do an upgrade now. Wait until your next upgrade window, then give it proper thought.
As I posted in that email thread, my experience (and MANY of my business associates!) couldn't be more different. I've been on the iPhone for almost 2 years, i use it for business more than just about anyone i know. not sure what you mean by the keypad failing, it doesn't have a keypad, as for memory, I've never heard of it losing anything from memory, certainly hasn't happened to me, and it has more usable memory than pretty much every phone on the market today. as for business applications and functionality, I find new uses for it all the time. I've watched at least 1/2 dozen of my BB addicted friends switch to the iPhone in the past year, and none of them have switched back. YMMV, but for most of the business people i know, this is a killer business tool... Agreed it hasn't eaten much into the BB market to date, don't think that was its intended target, at least initially, although who knows how that will change over time. Find one really good "killer app" that transforms some business function, and then it will be very interesting to see where it goes. Dave
At the Rogers store i went to they have had a lot of people switching back to the BB. The manager of the store told me as a toy you can not beat the iphone but for serious business use customers seem to switch back to the BB. If the BB had the zoom work a bit better i would keep it. R
The girls in the store had their own personal BB' as well. I'm just too old to see the small text. I never wear my glasses to ride and only use them when i have to. The way you can rotate the iphone to read web pages in larger text is real nice. Things like trees i can see when coming at me , usually too late though. #-o Could explain a few things
Anyone use the HTC Hero? I saw a demo of it today and it looks pretty cool. Built-in WiFi, 5mp camera, free apps. etc. As far as business use goes, don't most smartphones now use popular business software (ie outlook, etc.)?
