    Hello again all,

I am wondering If my brake light must come on if use the hand brake or foot brake? or can it just be one or the other?

I currently just have my hand brake operating the brake light and it passed safety but now I am going to do the ontario motorcycle course and want to make sure I won't get in trouble for my foot brake not operating the brake light.

    Thanks
    Mike

Foot brake/rear brake switch needs to work. Some shops will safety it with one not working, but in reality they both need to work. The exception being that some older bikes didn't have a front break sensor.

if your foot brake is not throwing the switch then they will not allow you to take the test, best to get it fixed.

don't ask me how i know this... :)

    Thanks everyone,

My bike never had a rear brake light switch as it was a crf230f converted to street legal. I will buy a universal switch and install it thanks for your help.

When I did my m2 road test on my KTM 500 xc-w I had to fake the front brake light by tapping the foot brake while the guy was inspecting functions. It caught me off guard, but thankfully I got away with it.

I'm sure if your taking the motorcycle course they will be looking for that, (doing a once over on everyone's bike) but Im pretty sure that'll be in a closed course setting. I could be wrong.

For your motorcycle license, definitely get the front brake synced with the brake light.
