Time to start dressing the Husky up a bit and thought I would start with a larger tank. Would prefer to find a reasonably priced used one in case anyone has one sitting around that will fit this bike.

Thanks Alex. I'll have a look. No luck so far with a used one. I did wing the wong # but no luck there either. Ok, there could be a wr trannsmission in the works for later in the year but no nice big tank. :(

Although I did kind of promise the boss lady just the other night that I wouldn't need any more accessories for the bikes. Only critical parts. I'm sure there's an argument in there somewhere for a bigger tank...

Love the bike. Hate the manual.

This is what the manual says:
Fuel tank capacity, 1.58 Imp. Quarts reserve
    included .............................................2.9 Imp. Gall.

I've concluded this means I have a total of 10.9 litres. Maybe someone could check my math.

I had a look at the tank at Gnarly parts and it says:

"IMS Fuel Tank Husqvarna WR 250 2006-2010 (3.4 Gallon - Natural Finish)"

I'm assuming this is Imp gallon so I work out 15.4567 litres. Make sense? So the gain is maybe 4.5 litres? If this is right, it's not quite what I was hoping for.

Maybe my expectations are too high. Wouldn't be the first time! :)

Yup, that's about right. There is no HUGE tank avail like for a ktm or an xr650r. You only gain a few litres. When I dualsported mine I would carry a backpack with an msr bottle or two filled with mixed gas. I also used amsoil bottles filled with premix. At the first stop I would get them in the tank. Not very safe riding around with a backpack full of gas.

Most aftermarket tanks are made in the US so they quote their sizes in US gallons. So your 3.4 gal tanks becomes a 12.87 litre tank. IMS also makes a 3.9 gal tank which becomes a 14.8 litre tank when it crosses the border.

Brian is correct. I have just under 13 L on my WR and carry bottles for another 3-3.5L.

I've noticed, FWIW, on long adventure rides I usually take about $4 more in fuel than Brian's BRP for the same distance. 2T burns a bit more fuel.

For all the times I've looked at tanks though, I did not know they had a 3.9L also =D> . Learn something every day.

So Charles..., based on that little tidbit of new info, maybe you'd like to buy my tank and I'll get a 3.9L ? Not sure what kind of riding you want to do with your WR but a 12.8L tank should do ya.

Thanks guys. I calculated US gallons first and thought that can't be right. Doesn't add much at all. I really thought I would be able to almost double it.

I picked up a 1.5 litre bottle and it fits quite well in my camel pack but I also wonder how a bad get off might affect it. I imagine it would hold up well but what if I'm wrong... :) Alex mentioned the bottle holders and I thought I might have a look.

And ya, it does seem to burn through the fuel pretty quick.

Thanks Alex. It may be a bit yet before I decide to grab something (got a few other things going on right at the moment) but maybe shoot me a PM and let me know what you want for it. Make it too good to resist and I probably won't! :D

To be honest, I would love to do that RAP ride with you guys but I'm quite a ways away from 200km range. And with other stuff happening, I just can't commit to dates. I'd be pretty comfortable riding the Honda but the Husky is just so much more entertaining! :)
