Planning some more new sections of trail again this year, and its earlier in the riding season so don't miss out.

A bunch of us from the States are looking forward to this awesome ride. Did it for the first time last year, and was angry that I did not discover this event sooner in life.

Anywho, we will be crossing at Lewiston on Saturday night and will head North to Barrie for the night. Any recommendation on a place along the way that serves IPAs and offers good grub?

    Thanks.

Glad you guys had a good time last year and are coming back to see us. We are working on some new trails just for you :)

Close to the event start (about 5 minutes) is Horseshoe Resort, they have bar, food is ok, beer is cold
Carriage Ridge Resort is next to Horseshoe, no bar onsite, but Abbots is in Craghurst close by.

In Barrie thee are several of the chain hotels in the south end, and Barnstormers Brew Pub is good. http://barnstormerbrewing.com/ from south end of Barrie you are about 20 minutes.

I would just stay at Horseshoe and then you are close by. Typical bar food but the beer is cold as mentioned and you dont have to drive anywhere.

Thanks Guys! We are already booked for the night at the Barrie KOA.

I have turned into a total beer snob, so Barnstormers Brew Pub sounds PERFECT. Plus by then I will just be finishing a 24-day dietary cleanse, and I can't think of a better way to return to my old habits than a gourmet burger and a flight of craft brews. :)

So let me see here ... straight off of a 24-day dietary cleanse, craft brews and burger, good riding buddies, a brand new KTM 350 XCFW, and some amazing single track .... things are shaping up nicely.

Hmm. I like cheap Americano Beer. Grab me a 24 of Miller Lite and I will pay you for it on Sunday. :)

There is a nice pub/restaurant right on the corner in Craighurst, a few hundred meters from the KOA. Not sure what your arrival time is expected to be, or if you want to find a place earlier on your trip. They made a tasty burger last time I was there.
As Brad mentioned there is the Barnstormers pub is on the way.
Additionally, if you like fresh tasty wood fired pizza, with a selection of beers, there is a place called Pie in the south end of Barrie at 34 Commerce Park Drive. It's often a stop for me on the way home after a ride in Simcoe cty.

Is this ride KLR 650 friendly? I am having issues with my KLX250, so don't want it out on a long trail ride.

    Thanks

I know that a few KTM 690 and a Honda xl650l completed the ride last year.

If you dont mind taking the KLR in single tract as there will be significant tight single tract on this years ride then go for it. There will be Stewards out on the trail who can help with bypasses if needed.

SCORRA volunteers have been reclaiming new trail in Hendrie, Phelpston, Williams,Orr Lake, Horseshoe and Drury.

I was out on Wed in both Williams snd Horseshoe and am amazed on what the lads have added.

Ewww. No promises but I will try.

Next thing, you will change your request to the grossest of the gross: Genny Cream Ale.

Not sure about this year, but last year IIRC, pre-reg closed on the Thursday before the event. I think I missed it by a few hours last year......

Could be worse, I could ask for Natty Lite.

Is this doable with my Freeride? Have a blue plate, it has headlight, tail lights, and I can throw a mirror on, but no turn signals, horn or brake light.

I know that there will be one other Freeride coming.

While putting on a mirror why not toss a horn on.

Speak with "Shaker" the other Freeride owner who has ordered a light kit for his.
