It sure is a great waste of money though. Why buy bottled water (unregulated), when you already have a supply (regulated) in your house? Plus the empty bottles end up in landfill. Its like buying batteries to power the lights in your house. When they die, you toss them in landfill and go buy more. :?
Not to mention that 25% of bottled water sold is actually tap water. Buy a jug, fill it up, save a bunch of bottles going to the landfill.....
Awww myth 1..bottled water is unregulated....the bottled water industry in Canada falls under the CFIA and thus is very regulated. And as for your tap water, how much testing do you have done at the your source, the tap? Myth 2....bottles end up in landfills....97% of Canadians have access to municiple recycling programs...so how many bottles are in landfills??? Tim, what is "tap water" and what is your source? But to your point, yes some bottled water is not from a source such as a spring. Dansi and Aquafina for example use a reverse osmosis process that removes all minerals and chemicals from the water and then add back in some minerals.
I think it was 60 minutes sometime ago, which stated that 25% of bottled water is tap water. That is great that the % of Cdn's who have access to recycling programs is so high, but I doubt that many of plastic bottles make it into the bins.
60 minutes is an American program that has nothing to do with Canada. So Canadians recycle but not bottles that had water??
Not very well, I see them on the road everywhere. If you're not sure of the quality of your tap water, buy a Brita.
I see Tim Horton's cups on the road everywhere...should we ban Tims? What about isotonics (i.e. Gatorade) or other drinks that come in plastic bottles?? A Brita is made of plastic. So is my strap-on.

Those are US stats....Less then 50% of Americans have access to recycling programs. This is Canada not America....

Why do you think I am arguing.....because I am telling you how awesome you are and that even though your "facts" on bottled water are correct you are a hell of a guy! PPl are posting accurate "facts" that they have heard in the media and I am just showing that these are actually correct. That is not arguing that is called a discussion.
