so i built up some 17" wheels. laced them up, trued them, and tensioned them. the going opinion regarding tensioning is hitting the spokes and listening for the right 'ting'. i've got a 'ting' alright, just not sure if it is the right 'ting'. to make matters worse, the wheels are 17" and running heavy duty spokes, and i'm sure that affects the 'ting' sound. the 'ting' doesn't compare to any of the spoked wheeled bikes i have (all of which run larger or smaller wheels, and lighter spokes). it's been reccommended twice that i drop in to 'machine racing' and let them do a once over my wheels. i'm for that except they are in new market, and i'm in mississauga bordering on milton. anyone reccommend a closer shop that's good with spoked wheels? anyone want to stop by and drop an opinion?

    :D :D :D

Milton Suzuki has the 2 ex-techs from Cycle Improvements. They should know what they are doing.

There is actually a spoke tourque wrench - it stops you from over tightening the spokes - a common mistake by all accounts. Your local shop should have one.

17 wheels - we would love to know more about this! Whenever you get a chance drop us a line with the following details if possible.

    Why did you do it?
    What parts do you need?
    Did you use existing hubs?
    How much $$$$$?
    What tires are you using?
    How long?

    See you soon, Digs

    ***EDIT***

I just read your other post further down the list........no worries.
