Saugeen-Maitland DS Ride, June 9th 2018

This is the official thread for the 2018 Saugeen-Maitland DS Ride.

Ride description: scenic tour of the Maitland and Saugeen river valleys (Bruce and Grey Counties). The ride is mostly gravel roads, road allowances and some easy trails. The whole thing is very scenic. This is the perfect ride for those who are unsure about riding on gravel roads we'll help you and you will learn how to get comfortable on gravel. The ride is about 250 km long with a fuel stop roughly in the middle. Like I mentioned before, this can be done on any size bike, knobbies are recommended but not necessary.

Ride Start: Meeting and start point will be at the Tim Horton's in Durham (Garafraxa St South) at 10:00 am on June 9th. Just to clarify, that's Durham, the town, not the region. Please have your bike fuelled and be ready to go at 10.

Cost: Ride is free to members and $10 to non-members.

Lunch: At the Walker House in Southampton. Fuel stop is right after lunch.

I will be leaving from Cambridge at 07:30 am if anyone wants to meet up for the ride to Durham.

GPS route will be posted a couple of days before the ride.

Don 't trust the forecast: it's never as bad as they say it is . Except for this year's Falls Tour, which ended up on the day of the freak ice storm.

I plan on riding Saturday on the 990. If weather turns to be a sunny warm day - I’m out (plans with family then unfortunately ).

But, but you ride a KTM. Seriously though, if that is a 1090 I would love to see that thing in action. Please. Please.

I am in. Need to overcome the soggy falls tour. Find some distrust for weather forcasters.

Couple questions...will there be a GPS file ahead of time?
I know it says it's a mild ride and good for beginners to 'off pavement'. Wondering if there are any opportunities for some more challenges as far as off road stuff?

I'll post the GPS file up on Friday night. Sorry but there isn't much oportunity to deviate from the route. Therebare some cool trails in the area, but you would need a local guide to show you where.

Hahaha, I have the same problem. Found that out recently at an event where I was riding with a bunch of people with waaaaay more skills than me..... single track is not really my thing. I am still recovering from that
