Yesterday we discussed setting up a committee of Volunteers Essentially, we're looking for about 20 - 30(or more) people that would all be willing to commit about 10hrs. per year each, for all kinds of tasks. It could be for regular routine tasks, or one time events like helping set up a trail ride. Here's how it works: If you feel you could commit what amounts to a couple of afternoons per year, your name goes onto a list. In a column beside your name and contact info, you would enter what types of projects you would be most interested in. Routine stuff like ie. web moderators or event stuff like helping with the bike show booth etc. Whenever someone is organizing a task, like a cleanup day, bike show etc., they call a few names on the list to get the required help. This gives an opportunity for many to help out without having to commit a large amount of time. Comments, thoughts etc.?? Thanks BJ
When was the last time it was ever pursued? People tend to complain about things but don't want to help. I think BJ just wants to get things organized and started so things can actually get done and not at last minute. I ride Simcoe County Forest, any trail patrols/clean ups/marking, etc just let me know. Also I am pretty handy electronically web mods, forums, tech stuff just ask and I will attack it. I volunteer to help, although I could easily accumulate 10hours, just on my own fixing trails such as down trees, garbage, debri on ST, etc.
Beejay, something ike this has already been set up on the OFTR site. Any way to combine efforts? http://www.oftr.ca/articles.php?id=1309
The goal was to be for this club, as we still have our own needs, but I wouldn't be adverse to letting the OFTR take advantage of the pool if needed. BJ
I'm not sure what you mean, I was referring to the "Suggestions & Tasks" area. In the last year, there have only been 11 threads in this area. Surely there were more times help was needed than that.
